St Giles Trust is committed to ensuring sustainable development and working in a way which reduces our negative impact on the environment.
St Giles Trust is committed to ensuring sustainable development and working in a way which reduces our negative impact on the environment.
We recognise that our day-to-day activities will have an impact on the environment and aim to reduce these impacts by continually improving our environmental performance in such areas as waste minimisation and recycling, energy use, purchasing and procurement and water usage.
The London Mayor's environmental department has recognised our good practice in sustainable procurement, and in November 2009 we received a silver award at the Mayor's Green Procurement Code awards ceremony for the 2nd year running.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
St Giles Trust is a charity which helps disadvantaged offenders and homeless people to build successful and independent lives. We are based in Camberwell, London and our operations extend across the Midlands, South and East of England.
Since our formation in 1962, St Giles has built and maintained a reputation for being responsible and innovative. We are committed to providing a high quality service in an environmentally responsible manner.
We recognise that through our day-to-day activities we will have an impact upon the environment, and we aim to reduce these impacts by continually improving our environmental performance in such areas as waste minimisation and recycling, energy use, purchasing and procurement, and water usage.
In particular, we will:
• Comply with all relevant environmental legislation and ensure that all staff understand the legislation that affects them.
• Strive to achieve high environmental standards using best practicable means to continually improve performance.
• Develop a greater understanding of environmental issues among the workforce through employee training and awareness, and encourage a feeling of ownership of the Environmental Policy among staff.
• Establish suitable environmental objectives and targets, and strive to achieve these.
• Review this policy annually.
The ultimate responsibility for the company’s environmental performance lies with the Chief Executive; however day-to-day implementation of the policy is the responsibility of the Head of Central Services, who will be assisted by the Environmental Committee (Green Team).
Implementation of the policy requires the participation of all employees.
Review: The Trust will review the strategy & policies annually
