The One Service
This new service supports short sentenced male prisoners by offering early engagement, through and beyond the gate and individualised support in the community to address needs and prevent re-offending.
This first pilot will see St Giles Trust providing support to 3,000 prison leavers from HMP Peterborough over a six-year period to help them settle back into the community and reduce re-offending.
St Giles Trust will work closely alongside other voluntary sector organisations to provide NVQ training to Connections peer advisors and provide intensive 'through the gate' support to people leaving prison.
The service started in August 2010 following an announcement in March 2010 by social investment organisation Social Finance in partnership with the Ministry of Justice. It will be delivered through a new funding arrangement known as Social Impact Bonds, where financial returns to investors will be based on improved social outcomes, with investors receiving a Government share of long-term savings.
